Miss Bricktown’s Outstanding Teen Pageant
Oklahoma city teenager Paula Smith’s Junior year will be anything but typical. Sunday, September 1, Paula was crowned Miss Bricktown’s Outstanding Teen 2014. An accomplished vocalist, pianist, and actress, Smith wowed the judges and audience at the Marriot in Oklahoma City while singing the “Circle of Life” from the Lion King. The daughter of Dana Carter, the 16-year-old plans to major in Architectural Design in college.
“A Heart for Art” is the platform Smith started, using art therapy to heal and promote kindness and compassion. As an award winning artist, Smith learned after the death of a friend that she was actively using art to relieve her stress and heal from grief. Smith will be busy preparing for Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, which will be held June 4-6 in Tulsa, OK. The state pageant is a preliminary to Miss America’s Outstanding Teen and is endorsed by and affiliated with the Miss America Organization and continues the Organization’s strong tradition by providing scholarships and performance opportunities to accomplished 13 to 17-year-olds from across the nation. Competing against nearly 40 of Oklahoma’s top talents, Smith will be steadily preparing, hoping to bring the coveted state crown into the Miss Bricktown’s Outstanding Teens’ family.
The Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen Pageant is held in conjunction with the Miss Oklahoma Pageant each June at the ORU Mabee Center and features talented, intelligent, and beautiful contestants from across the state.
